"Fan" noise from passenger side at idle 2000 9-3 ? Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Wed, 23 Jul 2008 09:49:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well I finally fixed the stuck wastegate on my 9-3, but now I noticed that this constant noise (in cabin) has gotten worse with the turbo "enabled". The best I can describe is like a muffled fan noise. Very continuous like a fan blade hitting something. Using a stethoscope around the car it *seems* it may be clearest on or around the turbo charger and it is definitely strongest on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Noise does not seem to be A/C as it is there even when A/C is off. When I accelerate, the noise seems to go away completely then returns as soon as I am idling. Is this a sign of a problem with the turbo? Thanks for any help.
