Persitent knock sensor problem resolved

Hopefully, this can help someone else. For my 1998 Turbo Automatic, the CEL posted a P0327 code for nearly two years. Checking WIS, the likely culprit was the DIC. The vehicle ran OK, but I did sense some sluggishness. I replaced the DIC, but the problem didn't go away. It wasn't until I noticed that I was getting only 13 mpg, that I got serious at resolving the issue. Eliminating the DIC as the problem, the next two components were the wiring to the ECU, or the ECU itself. I could not detect any wiring issues. Reluctantly, I purchased an ECU from eBay for a 1997 Turbo Auto. CEL came back on. Took to Auto Zone to check, this time, it was an O2 sensor code. Replaced the O2 sensor, unplugged the battery to reset the CEL, and it has been off for going on 1 week now. Mileage is back up to 20 mpg.
