I have a 98 900S. Considering the problem these engines have with sludging, it would be a good idea to pull the valve cover before purchasing the car, and I don't know an easier way to check for sludge. If the engine is sludged, it is only a question of how long till you have major problems. I ended up having to rebuild the engine in mine because of sludging.
