Just an observation/caution about oil on our cars:
Saab recommends an ACEA A3/B3 for our cars. Ive noticed a lot of people using Mobil 1 5W-30 oil in their cars. This DOES NOT meet the A3 spec! It is only A1/B1, which is lighter oil. I put this in my viggen without looking at the bottle very closely, and noticed an increase in engine noise. It ran fine, but just sounded rough. I ran this for about 1000 miles, dumped it, and put in Mobil 1 0W-40. The engine noise has gone away, but I hate to think about the possible shortened life of the engine now. :-/ Anyway, I looked into it and here are some common synthetic A3 rated oils:
Mobil 1 0w-40
Q Horsepower 5w-40
Valvoline Synth 5W-30 MST
Valvoline Synth 5w-40
Castrol Syntec 0W-30
Castrol Syntec 5W-40
Any of these should be a good choice, but check the bottles! ACEA A1 is too thin for our cars.
