I have a similar experience. I ordered mine in April 2008, and received it promptly. But the software is very buggy making it essentially useless:
* The Saab only never recognizes the audiotroll as a CD changer unless every time I restart the car, I remove and reinsert the fuse for the stereo system.
* Even once it's "working", if I change from one playlist to another too much or switch to the radio and back to the audiotroll, it will freeze up and at that point it's useless (again requires a fuse remove and re-insert which is not practical when I'm already driving.
I sent an email back in May and got a reply fairly quickly saying there were software bugs and they were working on solutions. It seemed a little worrisome that the email implied that the audiotroll wasn't quite implementing the car<-->cd changer protocol properly. (I'm an electrical engineer working in software to control microchips and protocols, so I know a little bit about this kind of thing.)
Then more recently I saw the explanation/apology video on the GES website which said, in my opinion, "We were relying on some blind luck to get our timing right in communicating with the car. Now we're completely re-architecting the software." Yikes. I sent another email asking about the fix and have received no reply.
I want the audiotroll to work. And I like the idea of a little guy who took it upon himself to make this device and then have it manufactured and marketed: that's the kind of ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit that we need more of. But I cannot recommend that anybody purchase this product at this time. (And I'd be happy to retract that statement if/when a software update ever comes out and works for me.)
