I am having same problem with a 1996 900, with only 30,000 mi.
Intermittently - seems more frequent when left out in the cold car will crank and crank but will not fire. Car was worked on for prior owner -just found out, dealer couldn't find problem and finally wholesaled out the car (no wonder I got such a good deal :(. anYWAY i'VE PAID FOR AN IONIC SENSOR and some other senser and some wiring connectors. Apparantly prior owner replaced ignition and security chip. They have had car for over w eek (no new charges) They have resoddered several connections/grounds etc. Will start for a couple days then won't start, been towed 4 times now.
Absolutely any suggestions are welcome - will repost if we ever get an answer. Calling Ghost Hunters next!
