If the chain noise isn't obvious it can't be that bad. It usually sounds the worst at cold start and then gets better as it warms up. Beware that some shops won't cut the chain because it is not a real cure for the problem. The real solution is to remove the chain cover and replace the worn components. This is major surgery an requires the engine to be removed from the car unless you know someone willing to do the tricky in car procedure of wedging the engine.
