Loosen the downpipe nuts on the turbo, undo the clam shell clamp at the rear of the downpipe, un-hook the rubber hangers, disconnect the electrical plug for the rear o2 sensor at the wiring harness, and then swing the downpipe down and out of the way.
Easier to do that and you can rest the alternator on the subframe as you pull it out.
If you attempt the top path you have to remove the MAP sensor and the cruise control module. Even at that its a tight fit and if you get stuck or drop it thats no good either.
