*URGENT* Need any info on the trunk lock "motor" Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Wed, 18 Mar 2009 10:20:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It seems I'm being rickrolled yet again on this car. After rebuilding the engine and bringing it in for body repair (prior), I noticed multiple electrical problems. The right turn indicator was blinking fast although there were no burned out lamps. Also, the rear trunk release had failed.
The body shop claims the right turn indicator was "simple corrosion" even though they worked on the indicators and they were working fine before the car was brought in. To no surprise, the local SAAB dealership is not simply claiming the problem with the trunk release is a "burned out trunk lock motor". They want about $350 to replace it. I think not.
Anyway, from my own diagnoses I just notice that after they worked on the car all you hear is a clicking noise from some switch or relay under the steering wheel when you click the trunk release or lock. Could anyone please give me more information on what might have hapenned? Even if I can't pin this on the bodyshop - I would like to know if I could fix this more cheaply with a used part, etc. Honestly, I don't even trust the local SAAB dealer's diagnoses because it sounds like they just touched a meter to the power going back to the trunk. They didn't take out any parts or anything.
Thanks again for any info on this. I really appreciate it.
