Looks...205/55-16 or 17's Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Thu, 11 Jun 2009 10:15:53 In Reply to: 01 93 change from15" to 16" how 2 where 2advantage??, JHawk, Wed, 10 Jun 2009 14:11:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Depending on how hard you drive the switch to 16's will be mostly cosmetic. Yes cornering performance and braking performance will be improved, but that will only pop up occasionally whereas every time you look at the car you'll appreciate the 16's. And larger wheels do nothing to improve the ride if you live on rough pavement.
If you go to 16's do 205/55-16's instead of 205/60. The 55's are more common, hence cheaper and ride noticeably better, but still no as well as the 15's.
And lately if you really want the look and you need to buy wheels anyway, why not go to 17's, but don't go too big, 205 or 215/45's and not 225's and be prepared to have to trim the outside rear splash liner at the back of the rear fenderwell lip. You'll see where it protrudes into a 17" tire upon suspension compression.
