Do you have a list of what you've done, what needs attention? It's probably not worth it to do much with the rust, but you can definitely make it a strong runner and hopefully slow the progression of the rust. There is something available called rust converter, it's like a spray paint IIRC. I used it on my old 900s and it seemed to work, though I had to reapply it every year or so. It won't look perfect, but it helps.
