well, after having spent many hours pulling/replacing auto boxes on my 97, i can say that while you have the subframe off, access to many things becomes easier.
you can go nuts and pull the oilpan.. look around in there... clean the pickup screen, etc.
the alternator is right there for the taking if the car has high miles and ya wanna rebuild it or replace it...
the seals on the replacement tranny should be in good shape, so less of a worry.
lower control arms/ stanchion arms are easily replaced at this point too.
definitely do the oil pressure switch. super easy while you are in there.
are ya doing this yourself? i may have some tips for you. i've had to do this dance three times in the gravel driveway.
getting good at it by now.
choose the replacement veeerrry carefully.
