I'm in NJ 30 mins from NYC, that might explain the cost. I got a second opinion from the most positively-reviewed NJ mechanic on saabnet and was given the same quote, so it's "reasonable".
Where do you live? Maybe I'll get car done there (seriously).
If oil starvation was the issue, seems stupid to not redo the valve train as well. Plus I may as well put a new clutch in and have the flywheel resurfaced while it's all open and right there. May save enough money to get a new turbo. :-D
