There are great online instructions for this job available -- although I don't know if I'm supposed to link to them from here. The engine stays in the car, but the subframe and transmission don't. I used an engine support bar that goes across the engine bay to support the engine while the transmission is out. Things to consider: the subframe bolts can be tight and difficult to remove; ball joint rubber covers often need to be replaced; may need to remove flywheel and take to a machine shop for resurfacing; check the rear engine seal for leaking since it's not much more work to replace it when doing the clutch; buy transmission fluid; clutch cable may need replacing too; save lots of money with DIY; save time and challenges by spending $1200+ to have the shop do it.
