Lights Dim and Engine Shutters After Start

Car: 2002, 9-3 SE, 2.0T, B205R with 88,600 miles.
I’m having a problem with lights dimming immediately after engine start. I originally though the problem was fuel delivery since the engine would almost stall the first start of the day and be fine thereafter. Original post: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/NG900/index.html?bID=273293 However, fuel delivery and pressure read ok using a fuel pressure gauge.
Since then, my indy suggested I change to a better quality fuel source (Shell 93 octane). Now, the engine only tries to stall ~20% of the first starts. However, when the stall/shutter is absent, I still see the dash, SID and headlights dim for about 0.5 seconds during the time the engine had tried to stall. Additionally, I now noticed the dimming occurs after every start (about 2 to 3 seconds after every start). After this time, the car runs great and has not generated a CEL.
I read the issue to be a voltage or electronic dropout immediately after starting the engine. The presence of better fuel (during the first start of the day) or multiple starts (warm engine?) prevents the engine from stalling/shuttering in response to the problem.
I plan to check the alternator voltage output. Is there anything else I should consider? Could this problem reflect poor grounding or a sensor malfunction? Any ideas would be very helpful.
Thanks.
