Tonneau cover universal joint....is this a DIY job? Posted by turrbo [Email] [Profile/Gallery]

So after getting my top to finally stop leaking, I started opening it a few weeks ago and the u-joint for the tonneau cover fell apart. According to my dealer, the whole joint needs to be replaced, not just the shear pin. They quoted me $698 installed, which I declined since I will be putting my 9000 back on the road and storing my 'vert until Spring in a few weeks.
Has anyone replaced the u-joint themselves? I know the shear pin supposedly isn't a bad job, but is the whole joint? This is a 2001 9-3, I believe the NG900 setup is a little different.
