My 96 SET was back on the road and apparently running very well after 3 years storage. We replaced the brakes, power steering pump, the serpentine belt, and a list of the obvious stuff. Lurking in the back of my mind was one issue that got me out in the country when I had had the car for about two weeks in 1999. This was the clutch cable. My buddy who has just taken over his son's 96 900 SET for the winter, just replaced this same part after getting stranded. What I am interested in is the so-called "NG900 Hydraulic Clutch Conversion." I have read numerous sites on how this problem had come about due to what seems to be a G.M.design blunder. What I am interested in, is replacing the present clutch pedal set up with the conversion documented in several postings including : http://photo.platonoff.c/Auto/20060122.Saab_NG900_Hydraulic_Clutch_Conversion/
I know that this has occurred in numerous cases. Any opinions about this repair and the conversion mentioned earlier. Thanks again. Bill Yahwak
