some advice needed

had my rear brake pads and rotors done today--thought of doing them myself after reading all these posts...but as I looked at the pads once the wheels were off--it appears as though the inner linings(both of them)seized abt 4-5 yrs ago , innerside of the rotors were pretty rusty--so put the wheells back on and visited an indy...glad I did since once the drivers side caliper was removed, the brake line sprung a leak ( just waiting to happen I guess)the inside pads looked about 40% used.....
and the calipers needed some serious cleaning and filing , etc....in order to ensure the new pads could move freely....
So much fora DIY.....
Some help needed --how do I make sure that this doesn't happen again (ie the seizing thing)
It is a 01 se convertible with 42K miles on it,,,,
I also asked the indy to do a rad flush since the car waa already on the lift....he peered --gazed --and said no problem, but I can't get to the lower hose without removing soem other hoses, etc...and he didn't want to use the plastic drain piece --and suggested I don;t do a fluid flush--maybe he was too tired...(the wheels were also pretty darn tighly on)
anyway, still want to the the fluid flush--any help on how to get at that lower hose would be very much appreciated....
You huys always make it appear so easy....so a step by step for me would be very much appreciated.....
