about 2 weeks ago I had post about issue with my 97 900s and its vent directional knob breaking at the directional stem barb . You kindly responded but I since found I've probably created added problem.
Since I had put all parts back together with new directional knob - the lights on the knobs and a/c putton & defrost button don't work-probably the lights circuit board didn't go on straight & missing a contact) .
Also I find that the vent directional knob , while it nicely clicks its way around- I only get heat/ac to the windshield. I suspect that since I had not been able to completely remove the inner knob housing ( because the temp stem detent didn't line up with the housing/tray knotch) the "directional" side was much further out and the vent directional "paper roll" probably dislodged and now its not engaging for directional vent control.
Now my wife's feet are freezing in the 20F temps in NJ. I assume I really gotta pull the housing out along with the light circuit board, I "will" get that temp stem to align with the detent on the housing/tray in order to allow the withdrawal of the housing/tray.
Do I have to pull the radio to reach in behind the knobs?? or do I have to remove some passenger side console or knee plate. There's a plastic cover( about 1 inch square) on the pass side center console - Is that where I can remove p/s panel to reach the "paper roll" and ensure its alignment in reassembly? or is there a knee panel???
Thanks for you patience and guidance.
