...then you have no idea what your car is capable of!
I have an '01 base model and find it a bit slow to respond when Sport Mode is off, but engaging it gives you much snappier throttle response as noted by saabdoc. The ability to hold gears until higher RPMs is also helpful during acceleration, as you're less at the mercy of the transmission deciding when it wants to shift. You benefit much more from the turbo boost because it takes more throttle initially to get the turbine spooled up.
In general, the car will feel much more alive in Sport Mode - but drive carefully, of course. :)
