2000 9-3 SE. Several years ago I bought these speakers and my OEM door speakers finally rotted out, so off came the door panel to replace. I did not break anything - WooHoo! Anyway, I have searched the archives on this and know that the OEM speakers were for mid range bass only, some refer to as a subwoofer. But no one discussed what to do with the crossover that comes with these speakers. FYI have had Infinty Kappas in front (dash) and 6x9 Kappas in rear for 6-7 years now and they are fine.
THE issue is the 62.5I has a little tweeter and a crossover with separate sets of connectors to the tweeter and woofer. Am I correct in my thinking that I can just connect the existing Saab wires to just the woofer and eliminate the crossover as the tweeter will probably do nothing even if it was connected and the crossover used? If I wire it directly to the woofer it would essentially act as just a woofer like the OEM ones did? Can anything be damaged by not using the crossover?
Thank you much.
