Gotta love my car...
After a bunch of maintenance items at ~170K, I left on a Chicago (300miles) trip over Easter and got this:
(2 weeks ago, new sparkplugs 6es copper, just under 10mm gap, new belt+pully). Car was still "tired", but got good fuel economy, so I figured its the turbo...
Good friday morning, start the car, out of the parking lot, CEL came on. I keep a OBD2 reader in my glove compartment, so I check and get P1312 code. I didn't know what that was, so i continued to drive cautiously. I also reset the code by leaving the OBD2 plugged in for a few minutes.
After stopping for gas 2 hours later (good fuel economy, car drives normally), I triggered CEL again after leaving the gas station. Now, I got P1312 and P1334. I am now worried. This happened again one more time that day. That night, I checked the internet and found that P1312+1334 is the same (different cylinder banks), so since I have new plugs, they can't all go bad at the same time. I changed the DI cassette. (Yes, I kept a spare in my trunk for the past 6 years! even though my original failed at 20K and replaced under warranty and subsequently, my dealership told me the new DI casette was not in the recall part number range.) The CEL didn't come back. The next day, the car appeared to drive with more response from the engine (more power?). All is good until on the highway coming home, CEL came on again. This time, it is P0101, and nothing else. After clearing it, it didn't come back.
Doing research today, I find that it may be an air leak. Or maybe my MAF/throttle body needs cleaning (I cleaned at ~60K once). Or the MAF is dying... MAF is $300... I don't really want to change this... I've never changed my O2 sensor either... (My car is at ~17?K now...)
I will clean and check the air intake system next weekend. I will also try to drive my car a little harder on the way home to try to trigger CEL again... Any recommendation on how to diagnose this P0101 code?
