Somehat hard starting and lean running

My '99 9-3 SE (#2 daughter's car) is taking about 7-10 turns to crank. Not a lot, but it used to start almost immediately. Once it starts it runs and idles fine. DI has been around a while, used to be in my 9K, but there are no stumbles or misfires. The engine turns nice and fast, so I don't think it's the battery, although it's about due for replacement.
The plugs (NGK BCPR7ES) were new 3500 miles ago, but when I pulled them as a sanity check the center insulator was white, so the car is running lean. Didn't spot any obvious vacuum leaks, but I'm not as familiar with stuff on the 9-3 as I am on my 9Ks.
It could be the FPR, but if I start it, then turn it off, and go to restart, it starts the same way, so unless the FPR is barely holding pressure I don't that's it.
It won't leave her stranded (I hope), but I want to get a handle on it. Am traveling a bunch next couple weeks but knowing what to look at next weekend will be a help.
And I can avoid having to listen to my daughter complain!
Thanks!
Noel
