If you are talking about sending off the ABS ECU to BBA-Reman or somewhere, then you can still drive the car. No speedo or ABS functions but the car still has normal brake fucntions. I'd cover the exposed parts with a plastic bag to protect them
Liability is a different story. I wonder what the insurance companies or "authorities" might say if you were the cause of an accident while the part was out.
