My knob was NOT coming off. I feared that I would damage something mechanical if I pulled any harder on it.

I used a utility knife to slowly cut down to the shaft. I don't know that I'd recommend it to others: You have to pull up in the knife towards yourself and it's not really safe. Also, there's a lot of cursing involved in the process.

My replacement would NOT go on. But, I have an NG900 and this was the knob that superceded the orginal according to eeuro. I had to do some modification to get it on. Epoxy was not needed and it doesn't move at all. In fact, next time it comes off it will be another battle.

As for the reverse lock... I installed the knob initially and the lock was too high. I pushed down on it with lots of pressure until it lined up properly with the reverse lock out mechanism. Lining it up was not hard.
