On top of my failed ABS module I encountered a Soft Top Failure error over the weekend. This was the first time that I tried the convertible in a couple of months and at first I thought that there might be an obstruction in the trunk, but this was not the case and when I tried the switch again the top opened. However, when I got to the mall the error came back and I had to leave the top open.

Fast forward to when I got home and gave it another shot - error (the lid opened, but that is it). The only thing that seemed to work was 'cycling' through a process of restarting the car, hitting the switch, getting some progress on closing before getting the error until I finally got the top latched. All in all it took about 8 tries.

Is this indicative of something 'simple' like low hydraulic fluid? If so, is that a DIY repair, or do I need to have a shop do this?
