Couldn't get in any gear, then... Posted by crawdad [Email] (#1867) [Profile/Gallery] (more from crawdad) on Mon, 12 Jul 2010 11:29:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So a day after merrily driving around without a hitch, I get in the car, start it up and can't get into any gear. Turn the car off and I can get in some gears, some of the time. Didn't think it would help but did the shifter alignment anyway. Cable looks ok and there's the same amount of tension and freeplay in the pedal as before. So I put it in 4th and turn the key for a split second. The metallic sound I hear tells me I've broken a clutch part. However, I turn the car back on and can now run through every gear and she drives great. The clutch is at least 50K old, probably more, and pretty stiff. Did the release bearing bind on the shaft or could it be something else. Thanks!
