Lock Out Dilemma

Any suggestions for my dilemma would be truly appreciated!
1997 Saab 900S Convertible:
The battery is dead.
The driver's outside door handle is broken. The lock will accept the key but the release mechanism in the door will not allow it to open.
The passenger side door will not accept the key. Lock cylinder appears to be changed.
Before the car died, I would simply unlock both doors with the clicker, open the passenger and then open the driver from the inside.
Or, in good weather, I would leave the top or driver's window down since the driver's door will work from the inside.
I can't figure a way to open the hood to jump it. I can not climb through the trunk. I'm tempted to break a window/unfasten the rear convertible window.
Help! My mechanic would like to purchase the car for parts and I'm tired of watching it forlornly rusting away.
Thanks for any suggestions or help!
Howard
