On the 900s this sensor is located on radiator side of engine in a pocket next to transmission bell housing. You might try cooling sensor with some duster spray or some CRC Freeze-Off, both of which contain Freon, so keep away from the eyes. If engine runs normally after cooling the sensor, then probably is the crank sensor. I have added a little heat shield over my sensor, to better protect it from exhaust heat. Shield is standard on 9-3 models.
