the Scenario: '01 Viggen, 126K, drove to a store ~12 miles away, walked out with my six pack, motor fired and died. Twice. Then, nothing. Turns over easily, no apparent fuel vapors out the tail. Changed the CPS, still no fire. Pulled the fuel rail valve, no fuel pores out at switch ON, or while cranking.
the Questions: fuel pump? if so, should I drop the tank or cut the floor. I haven't checked the underdash relay, is that a likely culprit? Is there another reason fuel doesn't come poring out of the rail? Catastrophic filter failure? Any and all suggestions and questions are welcome. Out of seven Saabs in 20 years, this one has been more annoying than all the others combined. I just want to fix it and sell it, so I can enjoy the '94 B234R. Euc. Green even.
As an aside, I read a thread that discussed the Crank Position Sensor (CPS) and its R&R. It is located at the left rear of the Block, just forward of the trans. The front of the block is where the pulleys are, and is most close to the RF wheel. Also, someone quoted resistance values for the an apparently failed CPS vs. a new one, 200,000 vs. 500 ohms, respectively. These values are at tested at the nos, 1 and 2 pins, which you can access by removing the "lock-block" connector from the male CPS connector, located approx. halfway between the #4 cylinder and the firewall. You don't need to remove the CPS, unless, of course, you're replacing it. My new and old were both close at about 700 - 800 ohms.
I hope this is helpful to y'all, and I doubly hope you can provide expert assistance. SKÃ…L!
