I have a 1995 900S convertible that's been giving me fits. When I try to open or close the top using the switch, it tends to go only so far and then stop. So I used the red handle method to lower the top manually, and really enjoyed the car through the summer and fall. However, when I try to put the top back up, I can no longer get the back of it to seal and latch onto the tonneau cover. My local dealer quoted me a price of about twice what I paid for the car to get the top working correctly again, so I'm looking for alternatives. My questions:
(1) Is there a way to manually get the back of the top to seal and latch to the tonneau cover properly?
(2) Is there a way to disconnect and/or remove all the motors and what not so that I can just put the top up and down manually and not have to worry about all these complications?
Any advice would be much appreciated, as this is both my first SAAB and my first convertible. Thanks.
