96 2.0T 5DR Auto 103,000k on it - done pretty much the same thing for the past six months (or at 97,000 ish miles it started) - rough idle, poor fuel economy - but the strangest thing is that if I fill the tank up to full, it will stall every time I let off the gas - have to throw it in neutral rev it up for like 5-10 sec then I can drive for a bit before it happens again - it happens sporadically but ONLY when the tank is above 3/4 full - it has NEVER happened below that but I have tried 4-5 times to fill it up to full to see if it's a fluke and yet every time, fill it up to full it stalls off and on till 3/4 tank.
Rough idle is all the time though, seems to almost stall out whenever the fan turns on high when the car is in drive at a stop.
Replaced spark plugs, fuel cap, fuel pressure regulator. Checked all vacuum lines and replaced most of them, cleaned IAC / throttle body.
Car runs and drives fine and has plenty of get up and go, boost pressure often goes a little into the red - never ran anything but Shell or Chevron premium (93-95 US Octane) in it.
If anyone has any suggestions or has had this problem before PLEASE speak up because I do not have the money to just throw parts at it hoping for the best :-P
Thanks,
Jonathan
