You can measure the chain wear. First remove the small plug and spring from the tensioner so that it won't move and then remove the body of the tensioner. If the foot of the tensioner is extended 11mm or more it's time for a chain. At that mileage the guides and the sprockets are probably worn too even if it doesn't show.
FWIW I pull the pan and use the scissor jack from the trunk and a block of wood to push the engine over to get clearance for the cover to pass the crank. I also have a lift and an engine support bar.
