9-3 engine conversion

Have a 2000 SE project car. B205R had plugged oil pickup and started to fail #4 rod bearing/piston skirt. Could be fixed with honing #4, new piston and turning the #4 crank journal later if I feel like dealing with it. I have a 97 SE donor car with good 204 motor.
I assume I can just swap parts over on the 204 and drop in it the 9-3? Will put on the TD04 turbo that appears to be ok and T-7 DI along with anything different I find.
I to not have a MAF sensor in the car. Any advice/experience on reman ones? Hate to spend the $ on a new one. I have a good used one off the wife's '02 I changed at 150K just as a precaution but almost hate to "reuse" it as I have heard about these causing lean condition failures, particularly at 8000' here in Colorado. Yes I always use premium fuel anyway.
On another note, anyone have experience with a purge valve failure causing a "lean" condition piston failure? I would assume I would get a CEL if that valve failed??
