No matter how they screw us, we sure love our doctors.

I have been in the medical field for almost 20 years. American doctors are not what you think they are. Your $8000/yr insurance is not what you think it is. Ever try reading your plan document? Don't -- you will not be able to. It is typically 500 pages long, too. But I can summarize it for you. While you are healthy, everything is great. If you get sick, god forbid, and I don't mean the flu, be prepared to bend over.

It is sad how it works but there is nothing to be done. People have been trying to change this situation for a long time. The power of interests behind this industry (and behind the pharmaceutical industry) is such that it is impossible to change the status quo.

This discussion is very, very long and complex. I had taken whole semesters in college on this very subject and we barely scratched the surface.

I have learned over the years not to discuss this with Americans. Other nationals -- yes, no problem. But Americans love their doctors. We don't take kindly to criticism of our health care system.
