I have a '96 non-turbo and a '98 turbo. If you never sit behind the turbo you won't miss anything. Passes cars okay at 55.

Because of one bad experience, I would recommend taking the car to an indy saab mechanic for them to check it out. It is a very good engine but the mechanic can check the tranny and other driver-related issues.

As an aside, I'm selling my '96 for $1300. 130K, Pirelli summers & rims from an SE, basic winter tires on steel rims, newer exhaust and some other stuff. Runs very good. Also, has complete dealer records from the person before me.

You should be able to find one without any engine codes and in good condition, similar to mine, so don't settle for less. Gremlins can, and will, cost you an arm and a leg.
