If you determine per the symptoms that your wipers (front only, rear will work) and back-up lights are not working due to the reverse switch, here is how to fix it:
1) get a new reverse switch
2) Get a 19mm deep socket on a swivel ratchet.
3) Open the hood
4) Stand next to the driver's side front wheel (in non U.K. type countries) and look down at the wheel well.
5) Look for a switch similar to the new one with two wires coming off of it. See the tab on the new switch? You have a little prong to gently lift off of the switch in the wheel well. Do that, then pry off the electrical connector.
6) Use your 19mm deep socket and adjust the swivel socket to where it can fit.
7) Remove the old switch
8) Hand tighten the new switch
9) Tighten the new switch with the 19mm deep socket. I don't know the torque specs, just don't crank it down.
10) Reconnect the electrical connector.
11) Test the car with fuse in 31, gear selector in reverse, and turn on ignition but don't start. Turn on wipers. If the wipers work and fuse does not blow, you're done except for closing the hood and putting the tools away.
Hope this helps.
