I decided to sell my 2000 Viggen 5 in lieu of a BMW e39 (540i) wagon, just felt like driving something different for a while. I've ownned 4 of these NG900/OG9-3s over the years - just can't seem to get them out of my system. Now the Bimmer is a gorgeous car, buttery smooth V8, very solid, on and on, but it's just not doin it for me. ["The Ultimate Driving Machine..." - really??... huh.] There is little connection with the road, and much less driving dynamic than a SAAB seems to possess. Burns through gas like there's no tomorrow, heavy as hell, built like a Howitzer tank, and i hate the climate control system. Also - had to take it in to the stealership to have a replacement amplifier re-coded and got stung for a few other misc items while I was there. Very expensive, but MILES ahead of my local Buick/SAAB dealer for customer service, so have to give props - I guess you get what you pay for there.
So I'm on the prowl for a 2003 'vert with the aero package to fulfill my every want and desire. It's nice to have some validation about what I always knew to be the truth: Saabs are absolutely the most under-rated, over-achievers of the auto world, and there's something about about this generation of 9-3 that has me hooked!
