do a google for NG900_buyers_guide and check these items out.

keep in mind that it is an older car which probably will need a bunch of stuff over the next year. I say that sight unseen because to me that is typical. My Saab mechanic always tells user Saab buyers (and this holds true for any used car), figure that you will spend $1500 on it and if the buying price plus $1500 still seems affordable to you go for it.

Wheels and tires could cost you $300 - $1,000 right away, dependent on what you put on it. Do a google in your area for used parts.

I bought a 1997 Saab 900SE for my son about two years ago and spent $750. I had it checked by a local mechanic who is a friend (my Saab mechanic wan't available) and he told me nothing wrong with it. I asked him about at least a half dozen questions that I was wondering about and he said no problems!!! Wrong!!! A bunch of obvious stuff that I had asked him about - but he said no problem! I bought tire for the car from him and he put on the wrong size (too big - I noticed it a day or two later and thought wow, no tires are really packed into the wheel wells)

I no longer talk to this guy. Damn I wish my Saab mechanic had been available that day.

Check to the rear shocks - I have seen some 94 - 99 Saab that have rotten through the body. (a local well-respected body guy that deals only with rust told me only $400 for that)
