Broken exhaust studs have been around from maybe late 60 or 70s and up mostly on the turbo model so it is not uncommon since it happens to just about all of them.
They break from fatigue from the heat and cold cycles.
It is possible to drill out the stud using an extractor but it is not for the fainthearted and if you haven't done it before, you should let a shop do it but also a shop that has done it before since if they drill it wrong or break off the hardened extractor in the hole, it has suddenly become a lot more expensive than it had to be.
The best and proper way is to remove the exhaust manifold and replace all studs and gasket but it is also possible to do a cheaper cheat job and just drill out that stud through the exhaust manifold hole. But it takes a steady hand and a person who knows what he is doing.
I hardly ever see any warped manifolds but if you would need to, the 97 900 turbo exhaust manifold is used on the 9-3 and 9-5 4 cyl turbo engine as well.
