Your book might be different than mine, but I don't see any recommendations for a 20W-50 anywhere. I would try to keep the lower end lower on the viscosity scale (a 10W at most)- otherwise you risk low flow at startup and you'll likely have lower gas mileage.
The most important point in a high humidity area is to change your oil more often, particularly if you take a lot of short trips. The moisture will build up in the oil. That's why in the old days they used to say '3k or three months". Oil doesn't age that much in three months, but if you take a lot of short trips then your oil never heats up enough to burn out the moisture.
