Wow, I didn't know there was such a mod out there. I can tell you I use a certain FM transmitter with pretty good success now for my Ipod. If you want, I can find out which one. It's pretty good as it plugs directly in the bottom. Then I just set the pod in the small storage space under the radio. I have an older Ipod touch.
It's funny that many years ago I actually had all that and more when I tried putting an aftermarket stereo in the car. However, that's a hell of a thing. These cars just don't seem to like any other stereos, so I wound up putting back in the stock unit and I can't even remember all the reasons why.
One thing to beware of if you mod or do anything with the ipod is the feedback issues. Had this in just about every car I've adapted any Ipod to. Depending on how you do it, you may be able to resolve with a ground loop isolator but you do lose some sound quality I think.
