You'll still need a generic OBDII scanner. Available from most auto parts shops, internet, Sears, etc. Also, many chain auto parts in the US (Autozone, for one) will pull codes for you at the store.
If it's a generic code (most likely if it's the motor), the device will decode it for you. If it's a Saab-specific code, come back here with the code & I'm sure someone can help you out.
Scanners can also clear the codes. I had a CEL pop up on my 2000 9-5 over Labor Day. Decided to buy a scanner from Sears ($131), read the code & cleared it, and it hasn't come back. But that's not always the case. For me, it was just an odd happening due to several short trips & short stops.
