If the noise goes away as soon as you let off the gas, then it could still be pinging. You're using the highest octane rated fuel you can get (91-93), right? If not, that's the first thing to change...
If it doesn't go away, there could be something loose under the hood. Check AC lines, stuff like that. But that type of noise is usually strictly RPM and/or road speed dependent, and load won't change the noise...
