I think I know, at least what the general idea is. I need you guys to help me out with the final diagnoses though. This is my idea. The car starts and runs fine always, but after adding oil it runs so buttery smooth and quiet, and I want this feeling to become permanent again. After just a couple trips after adding oil, the elusive diesel/treacherous/slapping noise is back, and the cars idle is noticeably rougher. I definitely have an oil leak. I will add oil, drive across town, park for a couple hours and then when I leave there may be a puddle of oil as larger or larger than 8-12 inches in diameter. The oil puddle forms DIRECTLY behind the passengers headlight, right under the front of the car where the belt is. I don't think it is down low though, it is coming from up higher. My car never overheats though, so I think that once the oil leaks to a certain level, the leak stops, leaving me with a diesel/slapping noise, reduced power, and a face like this . Please help me diagnose what you think could be the source of this leak.
The leak is pretty much instantaneous. If I add oil, drive less than ten minutes. Park, and come back to move my car in a few hours, there will be a puddle. My car has always left tiny oil marks in this same spot, but now its really bad and I desperately need to fix it. Please help me get this issue straightened out once and for all. Thanks!
