Yes, I have seen twice ('01 9-3 and '00 9-5) where the vacuum line and booster pump failed allowing oil to pool in the brake booster. Once filled it would intermittently purge oil into the intake manifold. Drive it for a little bit and smoke would clear until the booster purged oil again. In both cases replacement of the vacuum pump, booster assembly, vacuum line and master cylinder was needed. Oil had caused the master cylinder seal to expand not allowing full release of the brakes.
Nothing close to the loss of oil your experiencing though. With 80 pounds lower in #4, thats a lot. Were the valves carefully checked?
