When I started the car after doing this check, I didn't get any smoke at all. None.
I had a 1990 Saab that would occasionally blow smoke when it started. It would stop as soon as I revved the engine. I don't think the turbo was spinning when this happened. As soon as I revved it and the turbo started to spin, the oil seal was re-established.
Could it be that I established a seal when I spun the turbo with my fingers?
I just parked the car after driving it for awhile. I'll go restart it in a bit and see what happens.
I did install PCV Update #6 in the middle of this as well. The car had never had any of the updates done (no nipple on the oil filler tube at all). I don't think this is a factor, but I thought I would throw it out there.
