I'm guessing the branded title is a reference to a salvage title, if the title type is 'due to damage'. That may not be a big deal, unless you were planning a full restoration and need a clean title. At this point with a 12-year old car and 200k, I'm guessing you're looking to get it to fix it and have fun.
From what I've seen most time there's a salvage title or similar, it's because it isn't a viggen VIN, but rather a base Saab that they've swapped the engine and trim bits over after an engine blew on a normal 900 and a viggen got totaled in an accident. This is true for almost ALL viggens under $4-5k in my experience (but I've only looked at about 10-15 'viggens' for sale)
That means what you're buying is 1) a Saab 900 with 2) a swapped engine and trim bits that 3) has high miles.
The seller is probably hoping for $3-5k because 'it's a viggen,' but at 200k you're getting into the range of lots of parts needing attention. If you're out here, I'm guessing you're planning on wrenching on it yourself.
If you're adventurous, offer to bring a fuel pump and put it in to test before buying. I let a guy swap an oil pan before buying a truck I was selling once. If you can get it running, then you've got a good feel for what it's worth. If not, I'd start around $1200 because you have to tow it, and you can justify you're basically buying it 'for parts' if you don't know it can run. That's just me, and I'm a cheap guy.
