Is it an automatic or manual transmission?
When you turn the key, does it crank, or does nothing happen?
Does this occur after you've recently been driving it or after it's been sitting for several hours?
I'm not sure what section of the manual you're referencing, but cranking the starter for two minutes continuously might drain your battery. If it's cranking without starting, the problem might be the crankshaft position sensor (fairly common issue).
If nothing happens when you turn the key, that's a totally different issue, and there are several possible causes.
