I spun the main bearings on my 2000 2.0 9-3. I found a guy who rebuilt the motor for me using the block of a 2.3 and the head of the my original 2.0. Is there a way I could determine that he just didn't swap the whole motor assembly from another (possibly wrecked) higher milage saab? I did a compression test (dry) and all cylinders were pretty close to 170. Are there numbers on the block which would help me identify the size and year the block is, and is there a way to determine if the head on the car is indeed my original one? When I looked at the part # on the OEM direct ignition cassette, it doesn't appear to be the same as the ones I've seen for sale for that year> 99995599. Are there any tell tale signs to look for in determining if an engine's been rebuilt? Some of you may be thinking, if runs and drives good, who cares, but I'd really like to know what I'm paying for. I wasn't there to witness the rebuild. Thanks
